Selina McGarrigle – Operations Project Coordinator Open Minds

Selina was delighted to receive her Certificate of Appreciation from QUT for the support she has provided to our Social Work students, she is pictured here with Glenys Smith (External Social Work Supervisor) and Fotina Hardy (Coordinator Field Education Unit QUT). Selina is a passionate supporter of students as are Open Minds:

“We love having students on-board as part of our workforce! Students are such a great benefit to the organisation as they bring with them a fresh perspective, willingness to learn, a diversity of experience plus it is a great way for them to develop a strong foundation for their career.

We all know how important it is to expand your knowledge from the lecture theatre to the field. Open Minds strives to provide a supportive space to facilitate this and believe it allows students to really explore if that particular area is for them!

It is an exciting time to complete your final placement and we believe that accepting placements within our organisation, supports the next leaders of our industry and builds a brilliant platform for professional networking.

Students provide our staff the opportunity to further enhance their own leadership & supervision skills plus we get to watch the students thrive in the transition from student to Practitioner – and it is a win-win for all if the student is offered employment with us!”
